Ken Banot Turns A Dream Into A Mitzvah

An unforgettable Bat Mitzvah Ceremony of the Ken Jewish Community was recently held before a crowd of 700 at the East County Performing Arts Center in El Cajon. A ceremony that has become an annual tradition for the Ken, 15 girls participated in a meaningful program, created to help them with their transition into adolescence.

USHMM Johns Family Fund

The United Jewish Federation of San Diego is honored to participate in the USHMM Johns Family Fund, established to benefit the family of Officer Stephen Tyrone Johns who was killed in the line of duty at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on June 10/09. 14 Bike Riders Can Make A Difference

A group of 14 from the United Jewish Federation of San Diego County just completed Bike Israel 2009, an eight-day bike journey benefiting the Sha’ar HaNegev Educational Village. Their journey began in Metula, and the biking adventure ended in Sha’ar HaNegev. Rick Kornfeld, one of the trip’s organizers, noted, “our most important purpose of this trip has been and still is to raise money for the new high school in Sha’ar HaNegev.” For eight long years, Sha’ar HaNegev, San Diego’s sister community, has been under constant attack from Kassam rockets.
